Dear Reader,
Hello! Starting this week, I will be sending out the Ten Thousand Journeys newsletter on Friday mornings. It marks a new beginning and hopefully, a kind of next stage of growth both for me as a writer and in the material I share with you in the newsletter. I started writing Ten Thousand Journeys in Feb-March, 2023, and though I’ve been writing on the internet since 2008, everything felt new. For one, I don’t think I’ve ever thought of myself as a “real” writer. And, when I started on Substack, I was returning to the internet after a hiatus, so there was stage fright even though I only had two subscribers (my husband and my sister) at that time. I found I had to learn how to write again, and regularly hit the Publish button, even though learning to write is a lifelong process.
When we talk of going on a journey, we are talking about change. And change lead us to arriving somewhere new. Which means arrival is not a final destination. Instead arrival (the happily ever after) is about beginning again on another journey though one can argue that we are returned to ourselves every single time.
“We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.-T.S. Eliot
See you on Friday,
Best,
Priya
Excited for the new Friday posts Priya. And I love the TS Elliot quote :)
Looking forward! I always enjoy your writing, Priya. And I haven’t stopped thinking about Maya and her family. 😌 I hope we get to dive back into that story.
