Periwinkle petals of spring that spin as if airplane propellers but dry darker and flattened between blank pages of my journal to be filled in by my watermelon pen when all is said and done speaks volumes to fill my time alone under my favorite maple leaf 🍁 tree. My heart is filled with the joy just from a few things. Thank you for inspiration.

Camilla, I loved your list! Pittwater sounds idyllic - I remember many references to it from the excerpts from your memoir! I want to request you to paste that list here because it’s exactly what I was talking about. Thank you for sharing!

here you go:

Priya, what a fun and uplifting thread! I love this - and it does make me chuckle and think of the Sound of Music too - A Few of My Favorite Things😁 Where to start? Some of my favorite things: where I grew up in Pittwater, Australia in a house only accessible by water, and I’m thrilled I get to show off the area to two American friends this coming weekend. Laughing with loved ones until we’re nearly peeing our pants, consuming good food and good wine with loved ones, all kinds of music, from Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro, to Jack Johnson to Simon & Garfunkle to Xavier Rudd’s Follow the Sun. And of course there’s reading, and writing which seems to be my lifeblood these days especially. Walking. I love walking - especially long treks like the Tour du Mont Blanc and the Coast-to-Coast walk in England. Afternoon teas with a tray layer of sandwiches and scones and jam and cream. And if I’m feeling especially decadent, followed by champagne. The ocean, and sailing, and windsurfing, and Flyte boarding. Australian bird songs, especially the Currawong. Indigenous cultural wisdom and understanding of the human experience. Good films. Oh my goodness, I could go on, but I’ve enjoyed playing this fun writing game🥰 Thank you Priya♥️🙏🕊️

What I really enjoyed about this (beyond your writing) is that you got me thinking about what my favourite things are, which was a fun thought experiment. Here’s a few of those things: the specific style pen I write with, and the specific notebooks I write into. My cruiser board (which is a skateboard with soft wheels that’s, as you may have guessed, good for cruising). And funnily enough, my runners — I feel so much better wearing my runners than any other pair of shoes I own that I wear them far more than is reasonable (except for when I’m standing in the earth bare foot of course). :)
